US Airways Status Upgrade for $200 per Tier

Once gain, US Airways Dividend Miles is offering a shortcut to frequent flyer elite status. The price is US$200/tier, so if you want to upgrade from Base to Platinum (gracefully hopping over Silver and Gold), you will need to shell out US$600 (+ 7.5% federal tax). Your status will expire after 90 days, unless you fly the required amount of miles or segments within that 3-month period:

• Silver: Fly 7,500 miles or 10 segments
• Gold: Fly 15,000 miles or 20 segments
• Platinum: Fly 22,500 miles or 30 segments

As a reminder, here are the ordinary requirements for achieving status in the Dividend Miles program. Note that you must fly the following within a calendar year.

• Silver: 25,000 miles or 30 segments
• Gold: 50,000 miles or 60 segments
• Platinum: 100,000 miles or 90 segments
  

Registration for the above promotion ends June 30, and assuming you qualified for the new status, it will be valid until February 28, 2009.

Note that "Members may enroll in the Trial program only once in any consecutive 24 month period. Members who have been granted Preferred status as a result of having elite status in another airline's program in the last 24 months or did not requalify for the same Preferred status in 2007 are not eligible to participate in the Trial program".
